Doctor Vishnu Reddy sees the process of installing solar and storage with Net Zero Solar as a collaboration. Dr. Reddy shared, “You guys are very good at working to educate the customer. I think that was the fun part of it. It’s interesting in the sense that you you guys talked me out of a lot of things. We were simply looking at how can we maximize, but you were looking at optimization.
I wanted to cover every square inch of my roof with solar panels, and Brian said no, we can’t do that, and here’s the reason why, this is how the sun moves across the sky depending on the season. We were trying to put batteries everywhere in the garage, and you guys were patient enough to walk us through that. Because in the end, we’re both working towards the same goal."
Vishnu chose a unique approach for his home, installing solar and storage for resiliency and to control his bills. To address his biggest consumer of energy in the house–heating and cooling–he chose to partner with Net Zero Solar to install solar modules dedicated specifically for solar mini splits. He shares that during the day, most of his heating and cooling is directly from the solar mini splits, but that “at night, if I need to heat or cool the house, I definitely pull from the batteries. And most months, I just pay the connection fee. That's about it."
He appreciates the ability of the SPAN smart panel to prioritize the loads in his home, keeping critical like his refrigerator running no matter what, and providing power to other loads in the house as it's available. He explained, “I have enough batteries that I can last a couple of days if I'm judicious about it. And in the daytime, I have enough solar power to recharge my batteries." He also noted the benefits of the Enphase Energy Storm Guard, which makes sure the batteries are full and ready to provide backup when there is an alert from the National Weather Service.
Why did he choose us? He says he looked at reviews and talked to friends and colleagues. So why install solar and energy storage? Dr. Reddy says, “We get more energy than we need from the sun. And the fact of the matter is that it’s free! I mean, we live in Arizona. We got 300 days of sunshine. So it's a crime not to use the sunshine for generating power. Solar can be intimidating, but you guys were so good–everything was seamless.”
